Head Choir Directior
Jennifer Resendez has taught for 14 years in Texas. Twelve of those years have been at Mesquite High School as the assistant choral director. Mrs. Resendez has been married to her husband, Joey, for 9 years, and has two children, Ryan and Rosie. Mrs. Resendez received her Bachelor of Music Education from Baylor University in 2000, and her Master of Educational Administration from Lamar University in 2012. She sings with the Dallas Opera and performs in multiple shows each season. Mrs. Resendez is a member of TMEA and TCDA and is in demand as a soloist.
Assistant Choir Director
Michelle Pérez is in her third year as the Associate Director of Choral Activities at Mesquite High School. Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, she was a member of the Weslaco High School Choral program, where she was a three-time member of the Texas All-State Choir.
While teaching is her true love, performance has always been a passion. Ms. Pérez has performed all over the country and world with many ensembles including Schola Cantorum of Texas, Vox Humana, The Cathedral Arts Choral Artists, The University of North Texas A Cappella Choir, The Choral Pickup, and the Fort Worth Chorale.
Michelle received her Bachelors of Music Education with Spanish minor at the University of North Texas where she studied with Dr. Alan McClung, Dr. Richard Sparks, and Dr. Jerry McCoy. While at UNT she had the opportunity to perform at The Daejeon International Choral Festival in South Korea (2012) and The National ACDA Convention (2013).
Prior to her appointment at Mesquite High School, Ms. Pérez was the director of choirs at Agnew Middle School. Choirs under her direction have received consistent Sweepstakes Awards at UIL contest, and many students placing in All-Region and All-State Choirs. Miss Pérez currently holds active professional memberships with TMEA, TCDA, and ACDA.
